First shipment of Ammonium Nitrate Porous Prill (ANPP) from Chile arrives to Enaex Africa.
One of the fundamental pillars of Enaex Africa’s strategy is growing its footprint in the African mining region. This was made very clear when the first shipment of Ammonium Nitrate Porous Prill (ANPP) – Prillex – arrived from Chile in Walvis Bay, Namibia, on 2 April 2021.
Importing the product marked a significant milestone for the group, as it constitutes the first fully loaded vessel shipping of Enaex Chile ANPP into Africa and provided the opportunity for Enaex Africa to test and fine-tune import supply channels with a view to import more products in the future to support the existing business and Africa growth strategy.
Enaex Africa is working closely with Enaex SA for the supply of Ammonium Nitrate Porous Prill from the Chile based Mejillones Prillex Plant which is the largest ammonium nitrate complex in the world.
Part of the import strategy will involve leveraging Enaex SA’s vast international network and export experience (Enaex Chile exports to more than 50 countries all over the world from Chile) to source alternative ANPP, at a competitive price, from other parts of the world.
Import product will serve as a back-up for the Sasol Prill plant, which mainly serves our existing customers in South Africa, Lesotho and Namibia, and key pillar for our growth strategy in the rest of Africa. The positioning of Enaex Africa as the leading company in terms of ensuring security of supply in the African market will be further strengthened by the opening of import supply channels.
