In the environmental area, we have set ourselves the goal of reducing our scope 1 emissions by 30% by 2030, and our scope 2 emissions by 40% by 2035, with a view to becoming net zero by 2050. In addition, we have set ourselves the goal of reducing water use by 40% by 2040 in areas of water stress.
Resource optimization is a central axis of the strategy, through efficient water and energy management, as well as the minimization of waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, promoting recycling and reuse. In addition, Enaex promotes circular economy models to valorize waste, reduce the consumption of raw materials and incorporate more sustainable alternatives in its processes. In terms of climate change, the company maintains clear emission reduction goals and produces Ammonium Nitrate with low carbon emissions. Through technological innovation, it improves energy efficiency in its operations and supply chain, while analyzing climate risks to move towards a low-carbon industry. We are also constantly revising our operational activities in order to not incur in any ecosystem disturbance, including our biodiversity and no deforestation commitment in our environmental policy.
At Enaex, sustainability is a strategic pillar of business management, where our actions are aligned with our value, our priority is life: we are environmentally responsible and we are committed to the social development of the communities in which we operate. Enaex’s “Global Environmental and Climate Change Policy” establishes as an objective to continuously improve Enaex’s environmental performance in all its activities, products and services, promoting environmental responsibility and management throughout the organization.

Enaex is establishing itself as a key leader in this transition with Prillex® Zero and Prillex® ECO₂, two groundbreaking solutions that support the industry’s growing environmental commitments:
In order to have more sustainable operations and align with customers and their challenges, Enaex is committed to decarbonization in the production of clean ammonium nitrate.
Thanks to new contracts, during 2023 the first shipment of Clean Ammonia will arrive to be used in the Prillex America Plant, along with all relevant international certifications.
Discover Prillex® ECO2Taking advantage of the facilities in Cachimayo, Peru – where everything from hydrogen to ammonia is produced – the company plans to have a clean product by the end of 2023.
To this end, improvements are being made at the Peruvian plant, ranging from using renewable energy sources to cutting-edge technology to reduce the greenhouse effect of the nitric acid plant.
Discover Prillex® ZeroEnaex Brasil installed its first plant powered by solar energy. Since February 2023, the first photovoltaic plant has been in operation at the Escada facilities, supplying renewable energy to the operation.
In total, there are 248 modules that generate a power of 135.16kW. In other words: enough power to supply electricity to 100 households.
See moreThe Carbon Footprint is the total emissions of CO2 and other Greenhouse Gases (GHG) into the atmosphere generated by an individual, organization, event, or product. Calculating the Carbon Footprint is the first big step to know and manage the primary sources of GHG emissions of a process, obtaining a strategic tool to communicate, endorse, disseminate and multiply the exercise of environmental responsibility, adding value to the company.
These emissions are quantified according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s international standard and ISO14064-3, and are expressed in metric tons ofCO2 equivalent (CO2e).
The carbon footprint includes direct and indirect emissions:
At Enaex, we promote and encourage all our companies to integrate best practices for the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems into their operations. This is done by considering the nature of each operation, the potential impact of their activities, and the applicable environmental regulations.
We are firmly committed to the active protection of biodiversity, especially within endemic ecosystems. As part of this commitment, we promote the sustainable management of forests by preventing deforestation and the degradation of native vegetation. Through these actions, we aim to preserve ecological balance and prevent harmful practices such as illegal logging.
As part of our environmental management, we carry out biodiversity risk assessments to strengthen our planning and decision-making processes. This includes geospatial surveys to identify protected areas and sensitive habitats near our operations.
